My Journey
Thank you for coming! My name is Joshua Maxon, and I'm the creator of Maxxon Designs. I'd like to take a moment and share my story with you.
In early 2013 in rural Southwest Missouri, I found a passion for creating. It started with a simple request to fix a handmade necklace worn by a close friend. Soon after I was turning everything I could into something wearable, and before I knew it I was hooked. I found any excuse I could to be creating, and I knew that I HAD to create for a living. I started researching different techniques and lost myself in the flood of newfound inspiration.
However Copper, Silver, Gold and faceted gems aren't free, and I had to fund my newfound passion somehow...
A few months later I ended up making a deal with a local Liquor Store. Awesome! $5 a piece, and I was able to get a little display case set up by the register. I did anything I could to make my art seen. When I was on my lunch break at work I would lay a blanket across the hood of my car and sell jewelry on the side of the road by the parking lot.
On one of these breaks a coworker told me about an amazing place for artists in Northwest Arkansas called Eureka Springs. I went to Eureka once and knew that was the place for me, so I moved. I got a studio/gallery space on the North side of town, and immersed myself in my art. About a year later I lost my studio during a particularly harsh winter, but that's life.
Fast forward 4 years later, and my passion for creating unique, affordable jewelry and drive to be independent with it never faded. I relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2017 and am still chasing my dream.
Now, I make Woven Wire Pendants, Rings, Earrings, Bracelets/Cuffs, Dreamcatchers (varying in size from 1/4" to 7'), Wire Trees, Custom Glasses Frame Embellishments, Re-purpose Old/Broken-down Jewelry, and make various other Home Accents. And I have never been happier to share my passion with the world.
